Tool rental centers: If you don’t have it, rent it
Tool rental centers offer contractors the ability to supplement their equipment with rental. The wide selection of top-quality brand name professional tools available at The Home Depot tool rental center includes the latest tools for any breaking, digging, painting or cutting job.
“The Home Depot tool rental center is a great resource for my company,” says Prisciliano Jimenez, property supervisor, Project M Worldwide, El Cajon, Calif., who rents tools from The Home Depot at least twice a month. “We tackle so many types of jobs, sometimes it makes more sense to rent than to buy, and renting saves us the expense of maintaining and storing the tools. We rent scaffolding, jackhammers, tile polishers ‒ always at a great rate and in excellent working condition.”
“Convenience is key,” says Jimenez, “and there are several Home Depot stores with tool rental in my area, so there is always one close by. Plus they’re open convenient hours seven days a week in case I need to rent tools or buy more material to complete a job. No matter what store I go to, they have me in their system, which makes the process faster.”
Quality and training
Contractors can expect the equipment they rent at the tool rental centers to be clean, well maintained and job-ready. “Each and every one of our tools is maintained by our expert technicians,” says Robert Andrews, The Home Depot tool rental supervisor, Escondido, Calif.“ And each tool is tested and inspected before each rental.”
“On average, tools are replaced every three years to make way for the newest products on the market and ensure quality,” says Paul Jimenez, The Home Depot assistant store manager, El Cajon, Calif.
With every rental, rental experts at the tool rental centers offer the advice needed to select the right tool and use it properly. “We have people in the department that have been trained on each tool,” says Andrews, “and Spanish-speaking associates are ready to help our Hispanic customers when necessary.”
Tool rental centers size and selection
Tool rental centers are available in more than 1050 The Home Depot stores across the country. “The Home Depot looks at each store and what contractors need in that market,” says Paul Jimenez. “For example, my store is in a beach area, so we rent excavators, skid-steer loaders and other large equipment.”
The Home Depot offers a variety of robust industrial tools for rent. “We have demolition and rotary hammers, surveying equipment, sewer snakes, concrete cutting and mixing tools, power saws, and welding and concrete grinding equipment, to name a few,” says Andrews.
One of the latest additions to The Home Depot’s tool rental fleet are Makita’s demolition tools. “The 70-pound demo hammer is the most popular Makita rental so far,” says Andrews.
According to tool rental supervisor George Johnson, The Home Depot tool rental supervisor, El Cajon, Calif., contractors are really pleased when they see how many demolition hammer sizes The Home Depot rents. “Contractors like to be able to rent the exact size demo hammer they need for the job,” he says.”
And the tools The Home Depot rental centers rent go beyond construction. “We carry a large selection of landscaping tools,” says Johnson, “Some of our most popular landscaping items are brush cutters, chain saws, sod cutters, chippers and shredders.”
Almost everything tool rental centers rents is also available for purchase either at the store or through special order. The Home Depot also has used tool events where previously rented tools are sold at a discount. “There is usually a waiting list,” says Paul Jimenez. “We have contractors who rent a tool 20 to 30 times a year, and then they decide to buy it at our used tool event because they know our tools are well-maintained and great quality brands.” For more information about tool rental centers, visit www.homedepotrents.com.
